ARRIVAL

Parish church of Barbian:
Consecrated to Saint Nacobus and first mentioned in 1378. The leaning tower, however, refers back to an earlier time. The spire was added during the 15th Century. The church was once more consecrated around 1472 and renovated. The 12 glass windows reflect the life of the apostles.

Parish church of Saubach:
This church is consecrated to Saint Ingenuin. It was first mentioned in 1398. The church is a point of attraction to many art lovers. In 1925, the church was partly destroyed by fire, but re-erected with the help of incoming donations.

Dreikirchen:
Between the 13th and 16th Centuries, three small churches, slotting into each other, were built on a small forest clearing. Most visitors are surprised when they see the Gothic wing altars and the rich frescoes. The key to the churches can be picked up at Gasthof Messner. Trostburg near Waidbruck:
The castle grounds (large-scale) was built at the end of the 12th Century. During the 17th Century, it was re-designed into a fortress. The minnesingers Oswald von Wolkenstein grew up at the Trostburg. Guided tours available from Thursday before Easter to the end of October: at 11 a.m. / 2 p.m. / 3 p.m. In July and August, also at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Town museum in Klausen:
with sacred objects such as the Loreto treasure; additional exhibitions of different artists. Guided tours from end of March to mid November: 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays and Mondays closed. Organised tours around the town available on request. Neustift monastary near Vahrn - Brixen:
Collection of pictures, library. Library built in 1775, with beautiful Rococo design. Illuminated writings from the Middle Ages. Roman cathedral. Brixen cathedral:
Originally from the Ottonian era, with new Roman design around 1200. New building in Baroque style - between 1745 and 1754.

St. Michael parish church = 11th Century.

Cloisters:
Building in Romanesque style with vaults from 14th Century; frescoes from 14th and 15th Centuries.

Prince-bishop’s residence from 13th Century.

Diocese museum and crip collection – national exhibition
Sacral art from the Middle Ages and Modern Age. Crip collection and salvation history. Opening times: March to October. Mondays closed. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cathedral treasure:
The cathedral treasure consists of very valuable textiles, as well as Gothic and Baroque silver busts. (Entry from the cloisters or Albuingasse.)
The gardens of Castle Trautmannsdorf, where once Empress Elisabeth from Austria took their walks, today stretches throughout the blooming gardens of Castle Trauttmansdorff. More than 100,000 plants, of which 3,000 are more exotic types. Japanese Garden, orchid house, geological mosaic as a walk-through stone world representing Tyrol’s landscapes. Grotto with multi-media slide show. 11 pavillions, sun gardens, water and terrace gardens, forest gardens and South Tyrolean landscapes. Opening times: March to mid November, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Group bookings advisable.

Ötzi Museum in Bozen:
in Museumstrasse 2. Ötzi’s life and death forms the central part of this museum. His clothing and equipment are fascinating. Opening times: all year round, from Tuesday to Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Loden museum in Vintel:
This museum presents the history and production of the traditional loden fabric. With open-air enclosure, adventure museum. Entrance directly from the Pustertaler Strasse. Monday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Guided tours for groups need to be booked in advance. Tel: +39 0472 868540

Castle Prösels – Völs:
The castle is a meeting point for art lovers throughout the country. Readings and concerts. Guided tours from the beginning of April to October. 11 a.m. / 2 p.m. / 3 p.m. Saturdays closed. During the winter months, guided tours will only be arranged by booking. Please call Tel: +39 0471 601062.

Landesbergbaumuseum in Schneeberg - Ridnaun:
National Mining Museum. The good silver from the Schneeberg mountain was first mentioned around 1235 in a notary’s documents. In 1980, the Schneeberg was shut down completely. Museum, display tunnel, ore processing plant, exhibition rooms. Opening times: Easter to mid November. Guided tours: 9.30 a.m. / 11 a.m. / 1.30 p.m. / 5 p.m. Group bookings necessary. South Tyrolean Wine Museum in Kaltern:
Equipment used in the old times. Opening times: Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon / 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. / Sundays and festive days from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Mondays closed. For further information regarding guided tours, please call Tel: +39 0471 963168.

Dwarf pine oil distillery – herb gardens:
In the Puster Valley between Kiens and Issing (200 meters from the Issing Pond). Distillation according to tradition– controlled biological herb cultivation. Guided tours of the old drawf pine oil distillery and of the herb gardens from May to November. Mondays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. End of July and August: open daily. Castle Velthurns in Feldthurns:
Renovated castle. Was previously the summer residence of the prince-bishops of Brixen. Guided tours from March to end of November: 10 a.m. / 11 a.m. / 2.30 p.m. / 3.30 p.m. Group bookings required. Please call Tel: +39 0472 855525.

Säben monastary:

Pardell Mill in Lüsen:

Pfunder Mine in Villanders:

Mineral museum in Teis:
(club house). Open from mid April to beginning of November. Tuesdays to Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
San Romedio: a pilgrimage site on the rock. Drive along the motorway until you come to the exit S. Michele all´Adige. Leave the motorway and drive in the direction of Mezzolombardo, Dermulo (20 km) and then to the Mendola Pass. From Cordeo and Ravon, you can reach the cloister, which has a restaurant. Surfaced road.
